Close an ldb file

I have multiple users using an Access 2003 database application from a shared
drive. At any point in time I am able to identify the names of the machines
that are logged on. However, there is one machine that ALWAYS shows up as
logged on, even when it isn't. Does anyone know how I can close the ldb file
so that I can get on with maintaining the application? Or kick off the user
who isn't really on?

Sounds like whoever uses that one machine does not have full rights (no
delete rights) to the directory where the file is located, or they have a
habit of just turning their machine off with Access, and likely other
programs still running.

Once you get them off line, you can just delete the file.

I wish it were so. I know the problem machine, and I know that the machine
is NOT using the application. Nevertheless, I cannot delete the ldb file.

Assuming the file is on a server, have one of the techs delete the file,
it may be corrupted. Maybe even better would be to rename the file.

I have tried renaming - it won't let me. Is there something that the techs
can do that I cannot do?

Reboot the server... or (less drastic) override the lock on the file.
