.ldb will not go away

Dave

I have a DB that has suddenly started causing some probs. DB in production -
NOT use)

Not always - but most of the time when I close the DB it will not close out
the .ldb file.
And I can't then delete the .ldb file with out rebooting.

I have NO IDEA where to start in running down this problem is coming from.

Any help here will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Exactly *how* are you closing the db? The ususal culprit in this situation is
improper shutdown of the app/Access. Closing using the Task Manager, for
example, can leave the .ldb file intact.

Another thing to check is the user's permissions on the folder containing the
database. To use the database, you must have FULL create, read, write and
*delete* privileges on the folder. The account you're using to log onto
Windows may not have Delete privileges for the folder.

Good Luck!

Usually it means someone has improperly ended their session (like
turning off their computer without shutting down Access first) or someone
does not have the proper access rights to the directory where the file is
located to delete files.

You can try deleting it yourself or rebooting the computer where the
file is located and then try deleting it.

The database is being closed properly.
I have been able to pin down that when the .ldb does not go away is tier to
another errer (an error I have posted in queries) - so I think my first step
is to fix that error and see if the problem is solved.

Thanks for the replies.
