Hi Gerry,

It sounds like the Time Zone is set incorrectly and built in Auto sync
is adjusting to it.

Many things can cause problems with the clock but the battery is seldom the
cause.
If the computer reboots to the correct time it is not the battery.

I have a new Dell loaded with VISTA and my clock is also off exactly one
hour. I've tried to reset the clock but it only holds for a couple of days.
The clock has been incorrect since day 1.... Any suggestions for a fix would
be appreciated. Thanks.

In the future - please start your own post and note that you have read older
posts on this matter (if you have) and they did not help you. Noting what
you have done is a great help.

If you go into your system BIOS (which has nothing to do with Windows XP -
but you get into that after you turn on the computer but before ANYTHING to
do with Windows starts to load - usually with a keypress defined by whatever
computer you have (Dells - try F2.)) and check the clock there (after having
the computer off for an hour or so) - is it correct?

In Windows - what is your time zone set to - is it the correct time zone for
where you live?

What happens when you try to synchronize your clock manually?

What server is it set to synchronize to?

Being off by one hour indicates either a time zone set wrong or DST set
wrong (possible a missed update too).

You are either set for the wrong time zone, or your Daylight Savings Time
Setting is incorrect.
