clock and date keep changing

I keep setting my clock date and time over and over. I changed the battery
twice on the mother board and went into the BIOS (with the help of a
technician) and changed it there twice. It keeps returning to the same date
and time......Feb 7 2036.....1am
can anyone help solve this mystery?

Try double-clicking the time in your system tray. Then go to the "internet
time" tab. Check "automatically synchronize with an internet time server".
It may already be checked though, in addition the synchronization frequency
is weekly I believe so if the time is changing every boot-up you are out of
luck.

Are you saving the settings before exiting CMOS?

I tried all of that and nothing seems to work

You can change the frequency of checking the time through the internet.

Go to start and run and type

regedit

navigate to the following key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\TimeProviders\NtpClient
In the right pane select SpecialPollInterval and right-click and select
Modify.

The value is in seconds. Enter the number of seconds you would like to
update to the correct time. If you want every hour then it would be 3600
seconds, daily would be 86400 seconds.

Sounds like you picked up a virus or a Trojan.

Do a thorough check.

Have a nice one...

No idea what is causing your problem. There was a one version of a Norton
product that assigned this date to all files. And I seem to recall a virus
that made the rounds years ago that did the same thing. Those may be dead
ends but for now they are additional angles that you could check.

The only other explanation that I can think of: Are there other users on
this system that might be changing the date in an effort to avoid
expiration of free trial software?

I had the same problem with my date and time changing. After reading the
post and looking at the solution hopefully my clock is now set for good.
Thanks for the help
