Clips from Mpeg?

I made a movie in a svcd mode, but the exentsion says its mpeg. Now
when I enter it into MM hoping to get clips so I could edit it, none
appear. Is this possible or am i wasting my time trying?

If the movie imports successfully but as a
single file...maybe you need to check the
"Create clips for video files" box on the
Import File screen.

And of course, you can cut the movie any-
where you wish with the Split tool.

FWIW...MPEG files can be problematic
in Movie Maker...have a look at the following
article:

Movie Maker 2 - Importing MPEG Files

Thank you, but I do not have "Create clips for video files" shown. Just
where is it located? I tired all the tabs and none show that function.
The same for split tool. Are we talking about the same MM 5.1 version of MM?

5.1 would be your Windows version...look
lower and you'll see the version for Movie
Maker...it's probably 2.1.4026.0

Open movie maker and go to...File / Import
into Collections...this opens your "Import File"
screen. The "Create clips" check box is at
the bottom of this screen.

Here are some steps for the Split option:

Drag the video clip to the Timeline.

Play the video by clicking the "Play"
button under the view screen.

You will see the Playback Indicator
(vertical line) advancing across the
timeline.

Click the "Pause" button at the point
where you wish to trim and type...
Ctrl+L or click the "Split" button at the
bottom of the view screen.
(you can also make adjustments by
dragging the Playback Indicator)

Make as many splits as you want and
remove the unwanted clips by right
click / delete.
