Client - Server computer lab

Is there a way, like remote desktop, that I can connect 4 or so "client"
computers up to one "server"? What I want is to be able to run high end
programs on the server, and use less expensive clients for individual user
computers. I am upgrading my computer lab, so I figured If I had 4 or 5
servers and 20 cheaper clients, it's better (and probably cheaper per seat)
than 20 more expensive workstations. This is for an engineering department,
so the graphical performance and speed would need to be very good. Has
anybody done anything like this, or any ideas where I would start looking, or
what OS would be needed?

I think possibly you are looking for something like Terminal Services:

Of course, the applications you want to run need to be able to run under
Terminal Services. You might want to contact the tech support depts. of
the high-end programs to see what they recommend.

Malke

Fedora Core 3 (free) on clients and then use remote desktop to connect to
Windows Terminal Server.
