client search for network printer name and/or IP address

Is there a way for a networked workstation (laptop) to
search for printer names and/or IP address on the network?
Once in a while, I need to send a file to a remote printer
on the network, and I only have either the printer name or
IP address, but not both pieces of information. Is there a
way to get a list of network printers and their IP
address? Is there a way to enter the printer name and get
the IP address or vice versa? These printers are often in
other buildings that I can't just walk up to and obtain
this info from the printer's configuration sheet. Thanks!

If you use w2000 domain structure, you can add logical location information (like *** building 4.th floor finance) to the printers. Then, when you need you can use windows search. When you find the printer from location query , you can right click on it then select 'connect' option.
If helps.
