Clicking on' File' on IE

When I click on the 'File' in IE, I get the hourglass symbol and it takes up to 3 minutes for the drop down field to appear (if at all). When clicking on any other such as Edit, View etc, this delay doesn't happen. I'm running XP Pro and IE 6.0.This problem just started about 2 months ago. Before that, no problem.

Do you also see any network activity, any data transmissions either through Network Card or the modem?

"That could also be the symptom of having a proxy configured but not there. What happens if you uncheck all proxy settings?"

If your system is a standalone, or does not use a Proxy Server, uncheck all Proxy settings in Internet Explorer, both under Dial-up and for LAN.
