cleanup not working

problems with compressed files, cleanup is not working. been told to
change the reg files, but this does solve the problem to some point but it
does not solve the compressed files problem.

where are they stored, or how do I find them.

They don't move, they are where you left them, just smaller. You don't need to even think about if they are compressed or not. Other compression things are different.
