Cleaning Up Harddrive

I just recently got my brother a computer from a friend
and I need to know how to go about cleaning up the
harddrive. He used it to play A LOT of games and I need
to get all of this off of my brothers computer, plus there
are a lot of different things that pop up when the
computer is cut on. Is there anyway to wipe the slate
clean and start all over, but still be able to keep
Windows XP on the computer?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
