Clean install of WinXP with master DVD?

I would like to start anew with Windows XP SP2 by reformatting my hard drive
and re-installing it. The only problem (maybe) is that I didn't get a
recovery CD with my computer. However, I did burn a 'master DVD' upon
installation. I'm not sure if that will allow me to re-install WinXP, though.

Can I simply pop in the master DVD when I reformatted my hard drive, or do I
need something else?

Yes, just pop it in and follow the instructions.

That said, it is quite possible you don't need to do that. What problems
are you having that lead you to believe that you need to reinstall XP?

Thank you for your reply.

My computer has been running awfully slow lately. I got some nice tips on
another message board (virus scan, spyware scan, clean temp files,
defragment, repair registry etc etc), but it didn't work. It's mostly the
booting that's slow, but when I am playing music, it stutters when I open
another program. That can go on for sometimes 30 seconds. I don't know what
to do any more and neither does anyone I have asked, so I think it's time to
resort to more drastic measures.

Of course, if you have things I could still try, I'd be more than happy to
do so! :)
(free please, I'm not willing to hand over any cash - mostly because I don't
have it)

Does the PC have a built-in Audio processor or do you use a
PCI add-in card ? Also what Media Player are you using ?

Go to Start/Run and type MSCONFIG and hit Enter. What do you see under
the Start Up tab?
