classic versus new menu

In XP, you could click on start run, and start typing, it will let you
complete the command. In vista you have to swtich to classic menu for
that.
Anyone knows how accomplish while using the "new menu"
Example:
XP: you start typing d:\dow and it will complete or display
D:\downloads
D:\downtime, and you could choose.
In Vista new startup menu it will show up in the top and you can pick it
up, but no completions. You must switch the good old classic menu for
that.
