Author C. Clarke. He wrote "2001: A Space Odyssey"
it starred a mad mainframe computer named "H.A.L" I forgot what that stood
for.
The computer killed the ship's crew while they were investigating Mars. Read
the book.
Or get the movie. Great special effects and writing. Fits today as well as
1968.

How Did Dick Clarke Die? Did His Ubuntu Machine Crush Him To Death?

I Wear A Diaper When I Play On The Computer. My Mom Makes Me Stay In The
Basement While I Play With Ubuntu. Just FYI. She Gets Embarassed. Just
FYI

IIRC, those letters don't form an acronym in the movie. They are a
cultural reference, with a slight twist for legal reasons.

The letter H, A, and L are each one letter off from I B M.

Mr. Clarke had said many times that HAL and IBM were a coincidence it stood
for Heuristic ALgorithm

You appear to be correct. After all these years of believing otherwise..
