CHKDSK

ScanDisk was easier, but: My Computer>Right click C
Drive>Properties>Tools>Check both boxes>Start: You will get a message, "This
operation will be performed on the next restart". Click Yes. CHKDSK will
run when you restart the computer. When this operation is completed, you
will see your desktop and be ready to resume normal operations.

XP left out CHKDSK, but it is still there. If I'm having
problems I go start>run>CHKDSK. Simple, fast, efficient
and more effective than scandisk, which I run after along
with defrag.

Um, if XP "left out CHKDSK", then how can the "but it is still there"
be true?

XP did not leave out chkdsk.
