ChkDsk Problem
I have Run ChkDsk /F & /R a number of times and it runs after I boot up my
IBM R51 ThinkPad. It goes through the processes and on the second reboot it
reports a problem and request that I Select “Normal†or select “Use last
known OS settings†plus a few other selections. If I select “Normal†it
repeats back to the problem page. I have to select “Use last known OS
settings†and the system rebooted into XP Pro SP2. It does not fix anything
wrong with the NTFS file system.
Event Viewer said it was Event ID 1001. The verbiage stated that there was
0 KB in bad sectors and also to check for Event ID 26180 and Event ID 1066 –
none was found. The verbiage also stated that Bootex.Log would be placed in
the root directory with descriptions of what was fixed. I did a search for
it on my HD and no log file was generated.
I ran PCTools Registry Cleaner and removed all Spyware and Malware before
running ChkDsk
Resolution:
As there is no Bootex.log, how do I find out what the problem is? Any help
will be appreciated.
Thanks Bob
