Chkdsk fails to run on restart

I have two disk drives on my computer, c and d. When I go to my computer and call for a disk repair for errors a window comes up stating that the program cannot run because the drive is in use. That's normal. It asks if you want to schedule a disk check on the next startup. This is normal. It works for the D drive and goes through Chkdsk on startup however it fails to run the Chkdsk program on startup for the C drive. I have Zone Labs professional and Lavasoft Adaware 6.0 professional installed. Would either of these programs prevent Chkdsk from running. It seems to me it would prevent the program from running on the D drive as well

Hi,
if I understand you correctly did you restart your computer after running
check disk ?
Did you run chkdsk /r ?
If you didn't try.

Do you get a message like:

<"Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)">

What is you file system NTFS or FAT ?
