Hi,
recently I ran CHKDSK and now each time I start my computer it automatically
runs. Is there a way to stop this?
I'm running XP SP2
Thanks in advance.

Hi, and thanks for yor reply.
My knowledge of these things is sadly very basic. How do I find and delete
the entry?

Thanks for your reply post. I found the registry entry and deleted it (just
clicled on it and pressed delete.) CHKDSK doesn't run on startup now, which
is good. Instead, it comes up with a momentary message saying bootececute
could not be found. Is there something I should do in order to stop this
message from coming up? (I didn't change "/p \??\C:" with an asterisk, so
maybe that's it?)

Instead of mucking about with the registry use Chkntfs to repair this.
Open a Command Prompt and issue this command:

chkntfs /d

This will restore the BootExecute value with its default settings. In
the future if you find yourself again needing to stop Chkdsk on startup
use chkntfs to cancel the chkdsk. For more help on the command search
the Windows help files or use the /? switch with the command:

chkntfs /?
