I am having a problem hearing any sound with video in moviemaker. How do I
check to make sure I have the latest sound drivers?

Do you hear sound fine elsewhere (Media Player, iTunes, YouTube, etc)?

In order to ensure you have the latest sound drivers you'd need to know what
hardware you have. If you have a pre-built OEM system such as a Dell, HP,
etc, then go to the support website of the manufacturer, look for the link
to download drivers and software. They will typically have a place to put
in your model number and give you a list of drivers to download.

If you have a custom-built PC from a friend or computer shop, you can check
the Device Manager (Start -> Run -> devmgmt.msc) to see what Sound
controller you have.

Is it on-board sound or a soundcard?

If on-board you can go to the maker of your motherboard, type in the model
number & download from that

Go into device manager, double-click the soundcard, click update driver &
let it search Windows Updates

Don't use any of those driver update programs

Visit the web site of the manufacturer of your audio card. If built into
motherboard, then the motherboard manufacturer or the bigname computer
builder that produced the PC. (dell Hp etc.)

I do not have a problem with sound with any other programs, internet, etc. I
even took movie maker projects from another computer where the files(sound)
worked and put them on my computer for them not to work.

I'm by no means an expert in movie maker, but my guess would be that's the
only place you're having a problem then the problem isn't your sound card
drivers.

It could be a codec issue; perhaps the audio track needs a codec you do not
have installed. Do you have another (third) computer--one that it wasn't
created on--that you can put the project files on and see if you have sound
there?

I have discovered that I can't get sound for windows media player. How do I
make sure that WMP is my default player?
