Sound still not synchornized with video

Hello. I have update my motherboard's bios, have updated to latest drivers
for video, audio, tv tuner, and installed windows media encoder. Also
installed latest directx 9 for WinXP. Still the sound in TotalMedia3 is
still 1-1/2 second delayed.

What else can I do?

Thanks in advance.

From my experience as a computer repair technician, there have been many
things to cause delays in devices. One of the most common that I've found
was PCI usage. There was this older machine I was working on and the
customer complained about delays in audio, sure enough it was pretty similar
to your 1-1/2 second one but it turned out to be another PCI device. If you
have a PCI sound card then try another PCI slot otherwise do the following:
and I know it sounds odd but bear with me...

First remove all non-essential PCI cards, leaving video and your audio
(obviously) and then re-insert each of the other PCI devices one at a time
(in the same slot configuration you have) until you discover the device that
caused the issue. Once you determine that device, if you have another slot
to try then use that one otherwise change your PCI slot layout
configuration.

I may be off the wall with this but it has helped three other similar
problems in the past.

Mark, thanks. But I don't think my problem is similar as what you have
encountered. I don't have any add-on cards in my motherboard. All devices
I use for audio and video are built-in the motherboard. What I use is a USB
TV Tuner which, when I watch TV, the sound is not synchronized with the
video on the TV!

Maybe I'll re-arrange my USB devices and see if that makes a difference!

Does your system meet the minimum requirements? Did you check the
forums for TM3? I don't think onboard video is adequate for streaming
video onto a computer.

I do a lot of video loading and editing using Pinnacle Studio and don't
have issues. But I have 3 separate 7,200 RPM drives (OS on one,
programs on another, data on the other), a 512 meg video card, and only
an AMD 3000+ CPU w/2 gig of RAM. No issues at all, except when
rendering, which is what I do when I'm not working on the computer.
That's the only area where the CPU could use the extra help of more
processing power. But it still gets the job done.

I'm pretty sure my on-board video and audio is adequate. ATI Radeon HD
capable with DVI/S-VGA and the audio is by Realtek which is capable of HD
and all the good stuff. And playing DVD and selecting the DVI display to my
40-inch HDTV is superb quality with synchronized video and audio. What's
with my TV tuner and TM3. Note that the TM3 that I'm using is version 3.5,
the one bundled with my K-World USB HD tuner. I have re-installed the
K-World driver and video and sound drivers but TM3 sound is still delayed
1-1/2 seconds.

I don't know what to do. I haven't tried recording a program and see if the
recording has a delayed sound problem as well. I will try this later
tonight.

This all happened when I upgraded my motherboard to Gigabyte with AMD
Phenom.

Thanks. I have done this. CPU and Memory are at very acceptable levels.
The sound is consistently 1-1/2 late from video. Very frustrating! I have
a AMD Phenom Quad Core with 4-Gig of 1066Mhz memory. Nothing else is heavy
duty running except for the TM3.

I did some searching on Google and it appears a lot of people say that
TM doesn't work well with ATI, so that may be your issue.

Like I said, I would go to the TM3 forums and lurk around. You'll
probably find the answer, but it looks like the brand of card may be the
issue.
