Check Disk

I have a problem that maybe someone can help me out. I am
using XP Home edition and evertime I reboot the system,
check disk runs. I let it run and partially through the
XP home edition splash screen appears for about 10
seconds. It then loops back again to the check disk and
repeats the process until I hit cancel when asked to run
check disk. Is there anyway to stop this?
