How can I check the temperature my cpu is running at? My fan on my compaq
presario laptop runs continuously. (I'm using windows xp home, if that
matters).

Download an install an inventory program called Everest Home.
It has the capability to read the motherboard sensors for temp &
fan speeds.

Once installed, run the program. Click the Computer category in
the Left hand pane, then click the sub-option Sensor. Data will be
shown in the right pane.

There are several programs, often freeware, that can do this. One
popular one is called Motherboard Monitor. Google for it and
download it, or one of the others.
