I was wondering why my wifes profile gets changed every so often. The
profile changes her desktop, favorites, and so on..... My profile does not
change at all. When the profile changes, I get an extra folder in the
documents and setting that are Name.STUDY ( Study being my computer on the
wireless network.)

What causes this type of behavior on the computer??

I can do a system restore and this corrects it for a day or two.

Recently, I had the folders Name.STUDY and Name.STUDY.000 I did a safe
boot to remove the folders and everything ran fine up until yesterday. Now I
have Name.STUDY again. This is a hassle because I have to re-install her
favorites, photos, back-up her Outlook pst file. which is a pain in the A**
if you know what I mean!!! Thank god I have her stuff backed up on a
separate hard drive. I hate re-installing the stuff because it is time
consuming. IT is summer and I want to be outside instead of sitting in front
of the computer for hours to make sure the stuff is working properly.

Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated
Thanks, Jamie

Profile corruption, at login XP is unable to open/apply the data in the
file NTUser.Dat. Because an existing, but corrupted profile exists in
the Documents and Settings tree XP creates a new one with the name
of the PC appended at the end. The look changes because when the
new profile is created it includes the "Default" profile template. Since
it's a re-occurring issue there is likely some internal data in the profile
that progressively gets worse until the profile won't load. I would do
a backup of personal data and possibly settings (Files & Settings Wiz)
delete the account/profile. Be sure all the Docs & Settings folders are
removed and then re-create her profile fresh.
