Changing the name that appears in the From field

Hi,
I would like to send a message via Outlook, but have the recipients see a
different and generic company name (for example "Joe's Hardware Support"),
rather than my email address.

I figure that to do this I will need to create a new email account?

My issue is that I want to be able to easily switch back and forth btwn my
name and the company name in the From field. Is there an easy way to switch?

To complicate things a bit, I am sending the email through Outlook via a 3rd
party CRM tool. This shouldn't make a difference, but I mention it because I
already tried simply creating a second mailbox in my outlook and selecting
the inbox for the company mailbox before sending the email with the 3rd party
tool. However, in a test run, the email still displayed my personal name in
the From field.

Where/how is the name in the From field even set?
Thank you,
Craig

Hi Craig,

I have a feeling I might be telling you what you already know (or not
understanding you), but at least in Outlook 2002, you can set the name in the
From field by going to "Tools" -> "Email Accounts...", choosing "View or
change[...]", selecting your account and clicking on the "Change..." button
to the right. In that window to the top left is the "Your Name" box, which
should set that value.

As to how to switch back and forth, I would think that your solution --
adding another account with the same settings other than the name -- would be
the way to go. Still, since I have no idea how your CRM program works,
selecting the proper account would be the issue here. At least within Outlook
with Word as your mail editor, there is an option in the toolbar near the
"Send" button that you can pick the outgoing account with. I wouldn't think
that selecting the other account's inbox would change anything, but I might
be wrong.

I'm sorry if I haven't told you anything useful... Just trying what I can
off the top of my head. Good luck!

Tim

Hi again,

Another thing I just thought of would involve message filtering rules (from
"Tools" -> "Rules Wizard..."), but I'm not sure of any way to do that without
possibly using VBA or something. Just thought I'd add that.

Create a separate login on Windows. Use one for business and one for your
Personal name. Set up a different e-mail address.
