Because of the extremely slow performance, I was advised to check the
"startup" using msconfig. I found that 47 programs were starting up, some
such as "OmniPage" were unnecessary, and yet I could find no way within that
program to
prevent it from loading. For this reason I unchecked the boxes associated
with this program on the Startup tab. When I restarted, I got the message:
"You have used the System Configuration Utility to make changes to the way
Windows starts. Choose the Normal Startup mode on the General tab to start
Windows normally and undo the changes you make using the System Configuration
Utility.
check box. "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration
Utility when Windows starts."
If I checked the option for a "normal" startup, then all the programs in
the startup tab were checked. If I clicked "cancel" my changes remain.
Should I check the options "Don't show this message or launch the System
Configuration Utility when Windows starts" to retain my changes? I'm
guessing I should do so, but I'm hesitant to change the registry without some
guidance.
Thanks for any input.
