changing regions on a dvd player

I bought my laptop in the states and now im back in the uk i cant play any
dvd's on it because the regions are different, can anyone tell me how to
change them, i have tried but im told i dont have admin privileges, so i
guess my real question is how do i get that back for my own system, im
guessing this is something really simple but i have never had to use admin
privileges before and dont really understand why i would be locked out of
doing something on my own laptop.

You can change your Regions my going to My Computer and right click
onto your dvd player and choose Properties.Then choose the Hardware
tab,next window highlight your dvd drive and then click onto Properties
at the bottom of that window,then choose DVD Regions tab and change
your region.You`re only allowed to change your region 4 or 5
times,though there`s a work around for that.
