Changing port settings for ECP Printer Port LPT1

Trying to change the port settings for ECP Printer Port LPT1 but settings
won’t stick.

I want to select the port settings ‘Use any interrupt assigned to the port’
and also ‘Enable legacy Plug and Play detection’.

Currently, when I power my printer off OS recognizes printer as offline,
fine. However, later, when printer is powered back on, system will not
recognize printer as back online.

The above port settings are meant to fix this, however, I cannot get the
settings to stick. Each time I config the port as above then close, upon
opening the settings again settings show ‘Try not to use an interrupt’.

How can I get the port settings to stick?

Tried changing setting with port disabled and enabled to same outcome.

Thanks

You won't like my answer but here it is anyway. The parallel port is a
legacy device and way out of date. If you have an computer manufactured
recently, the way forward is a USB printer.

To make a successful change, you are going to need to get into the computers
BIOS and make changes there so that windows can pick them up on a reboot.
You may or may not be able to do what you want, due to the various options
and details of BIOS that vary from computer to computer.
