I need to prepare a slideshow that will have the 16:9 widescreen aspect
ratio. since I'm loading it into a widescreen TV with a USB connection.

Use File, Page Setup to set your slide size to a size that matches the screen
ratio. 16 x 9 " for example.

Then create the presentation as you normally would.

In conjunction with what Steve has recommended, make sure you do it to a new presentation and not one already created, as it will stretch and distort everything.
