The tutorial drop down box only gives me one choice "personal folders". How
to I get it to go to my "inbox"?

It will be going in your inbox.
Personal folders is the root - all mail - by default - will go in the INBOX
under that root folder unless you specify otherwise with filters/rules.

"Personal Folders" (which you can rename to any arbitrary string) is just
the name given to the root node in the tree for the message store to which
you have configured Outlook to deliver e-mail. There is only one Inbox
under that message store to which mail initially gets delivered, so it is
already delivering mails to your Inbox.

All POP3 accounts are aggregated into one message store. Each IMAP account
gets its own message store. Each HTTPmail account gets its own message
store. Under each message store is only one Inbox folder and to which your
inbound mails are delivered.

I don't know which "tutorial" to which you refer, or why any drop-down
listbox in a tutorial has anything to do with making actual configuration
changes in Outlook.

Thanks...basically I would like my MS office Outlook to open to the inbox
automatically; (yes I know it's trivial). At work I was able to configure it
to open to my inbox, but I don't have that option/choice (or the lack of
finding it) on my new home system.

P.S. thanks for the shortcut for asking "clear" questions.

Shenan Stanley: After playing around on some of the subfolder tabs, I found
what I needed.

Assuming that you're using Outlook 2003 (you didn't state):
What happens when you click on Tools menu > Options > Other tab >
Advanced Options button > "Startup in this folder", and use the Browse
button to locate your Personal Folder's Inbox?
