Changing language of operating system

J

john

I purchased my notebook in Tokyo in September 2002. The
operating system is Windows XP and the default language
is Japanese. Therefore all menus and messages (and
everything else) are in Japanese. Is there any way I can
change the language of the operating system to English,
as I cant speak Japanese.

Thanks
John

Install the English version of Windows XP Home or Pro. Install another
English version of Windows. Those are your choices.
Since it is a notebook, retain the old install CDs, as you will likely need
the drivers.

Windows XP is written in specific language versions, therefore one
cannot change it from one language version to another. You'll need
to purchase a "Full Version" of Windows XP in the language version
you desire, reformat your drive and install it "clean".

Or if you have an available empty drive or partition, you can install
another "Full Version" of Windows XP in a different language version
and create a dual-boot configuration.

A good third-party partitioning program is Partition Magic 8.
