Yes - there is.. sort of.

Purchase the English version of Windows XP you wish to use, back up your
data, perform a clean installation.

No, you have to buy an English Version of XP.

Greetings --

You cannot upgrade or convert from one language version of the OS
to another, so you'll have to purchase and use the full version of
English WinXP to perform a clean installation.

Cannot Upgrade or Install a Different Language Version of Windows XP

Yikes! Much money has already been spent on XP in the other/wrong language.
Why does one have to pay again for the correct language version? Is there no
way to get a, i don't know, some sort of localized English language interface
onto Windows XP?

Its really sad that you cannot change the language of the operating system.
Mine came Spannish, which I dont understand a word of. So Im also stuck. SAD!

How could you buy an operating system and not know what language version
it was? If you were sold the wrong thing, return it to the seller and
get the right one.

It's pathetic, is what it is. I'm an English speaker and learning Japanese
so I figured I'd create a new user whose entire environment, from written
text to dialogs to the Start menu, etc. was all in Japanese whilst retaining
my other users (some are personal, some are for work) with a completely
English language environment and the having the language bar available. That
was before I realized I could not accomplish my goal. I'm a long-time Linux
user but this new laptop needs XP for my job. I will not buy the Japanese
version and dual boot just so I can poke around at learning the language.
Back to my trusty Linux box...again.

i bought mine in taipei and even acer was not able to change the language. I
spent half a day waiting in their support center before thay gave up. its
terrible that you have to pay twice for the same operating system just
because of the language change. this is how the company gets rich.

What's "terrible" is someone buying the wrong language OS to start
with, and then expecting to get another copy of the OS for free.

No, what's terrible is that Windows only comes in one language at a time
and cannot be changed. The reason, of course, is that MS wants more
money because, technically, it can be done.

Name any other OS where this isn't the case.

The reason, of course, is that MS wants more
money ....

Well, Microsoft is a business, after all, even though you know full
well that you're spouting nothing but nonsense in this case, and profit
motive has nothing to do with it.

... because, technically, it can be done.

Well, please let us know when you've developed and released an OS that
contains interfaces for every know language; because no one else has
managed to do so yet.

You should, maybe, research what you're buying to make sure the specs match
what you want.

When I installed Ubuntu I was asked what language I wanted to install it
in and it gave me 40 choices.

So, it's the money or MS is too stupid to design an OS with language
choices.

Everything MS does is about $$$. Every Linux distro I've ever
installed has always given me a choice of languages. Whereas with any
version of Windows the choice is to buy another copy in the language
you wish. IOW, spend more money....

It seems Bruce isn't willing to admit he made a mistake ...
