I now have a cable service provider, and need to change to a dial-up 56K ISP.
When I change over, will I loose my cable settings? Running XP home on Dell
laptop.
Thankyou in advance

You will need to change your Internet Options for the dial up, but the
cable network settings should also be retained so changing back again
should only require changing to "never dial a connection".

Good luck

The settings will remain, but will be unable to use them. You will also
lose any mailbox usage from the cable provider as well. That may be
provided by the dialup ISP. Those settings will need changed after
establishing dialup connectivity.

My Network Places, View network connections, Add a network connection.
Then, My Network Places, View network connections, right click on the
dialup, Create shortcut, put it on the desktop.
Use the shortcut to establish your connection.

Do you want to check the mail from your cable provider?
Add a new account.
Use the dialup settings for the pop3 settings.
Use the cable settings for the smtp settings.
