changing from workgroup to domain log-on

My laptop currently running on WinXp pro has refuse to
accept changes to log-on to our office domain. Each time I
try changing the settings I get an error message.

It is unclear what is being seen when.
If the machine does not allow domain logins,
it might have become out of sync with the domain.
One way to resolve this is to disjoin and then
rejoin the domain. It may be necessary to delete
the remanant computer object in the domain in
between these two steps.
