changing folders views

Is there a way to change the default of how a folder opens
so it will always display a list

Start-settings-folders
Set one folder as you require it and tell the program to set all folders like
the one you have chosen.

I have the same question but don't see the choice of
folders under settings. I get Control Panel, Network &
DialUp Connections, Printers, Taskbar and Startup Menu.
Filemanager doesn't have any way that I can see to Save a
layout and make it standard.
Where is this choice?
