Changing back to PS2 keyboard

Steve

I have an HP computer that came with a PS2 keyboard originally. I
hooked up an HP USB keyboard to it and everything worked fine. I am
now giving this PC to somebody and I want to hookup the original HP PS2
keyboard to the PC. ( I want to regain the use of the USB port) When I
do so, I get a keyboard error. I did go through each BIOS setting
and changed them all to their default settings. Am I missing a
setting somewhere ?

Thanks, Steve

Either:

1. You are putting the keyboard in the mouse connector - and I'm not
saying this to hurt your feelings because it has been known to happen;

2. or the ps/2 keyboard port is broken;

3. or the keyboard is broken.

So check to make sure you've connected the keyboard correctly and it is
in nice and snug. If it is and still not working, try another ps/2
keyboard to determine whether the keyboard or the motherboard keyboard
port is at fault.

Thanks Malke, it turns out PS2 port IS broken.

I'm sorry to hear that but at least now you know the answer. Thanks for
taking the time to let me know.
