Changes are not saved when I close the document

XP Home edition, WordPerfect 12
In one document, the changes are not saved when I close it.
I tried "Save As" and a new name, also "Copy – Paste" in a new document; to
no avail. The "Properties" of this document seem to be the same as the
"Properties" of others.
Any suggestion?

I don't know about WP but in MS Word if the Normal.dot template gets
corrupted it can cause that and other issues.
