dear

i am new to Network Administrator
i want to learn on my PC

* i install Windows 2000 Advance Server on my pc

* During installation , the setup did not choice me to install either
domain or workgroup
* so , the default network identification is workgroup
i want this single pc to be a domain , firsly is it possible to become
it domain without any client or network computer.

as i change a network identification from WorkGroup to Domain xyz
then the following error occurs

" the following error occured validating the domain xyz
the specified domain does not exist or can not be contacted "

* how can i make my single pc to domain
because i instal an active directory on this domain xyz .also make
this server a mail server


detail me in easy and simple answer.step by step .

click start then run... type dcpromo and follow the instructions. Use the
same tool if you wish to go back to a workgroup from a domain
