change Windows XP Key code

Hi

I am a Home user , I had licensed Windows XP home edition
but while my comp was with a collegue he upgraded it with
pro , when i tried to install sp1 , i came to know it was
pirated , So i purchased a Licensed upgrade Copy of XP Pro
to put the correct key but I am not success full with the
procedure given in 328874 on support website.

Do I need to do full installation ?

If i have to do the full installation will my other
software installation be effected. ?

I will appreciate Your help.

If you are getting the following error message when attempting to update to SP1:

Error Message: The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;326904&Product=winxp

You'll have to purchase a new "Full Version" of Windows XP Professional
and perform a "Repair Install" using the new Windows XP Pro CD and Product Key
that comes with it. (You cannot simply change the Product Key)

http://www.magicaljellybean.com/ Go there and they got an app called
keyfinder, that's what you need. It will let you change your CD key then
reinstall SP1 and it will be fine, as long as you change it to a legit key
not another pirated one.
