Change timing in movie maker

Just learned a little about Movie Maker in my WINXP HM. I wanted to make a
simple slide show (with photos not videos). I made the slide show and saved
it. It actually worked but I want to slow the timeing down on how long each
photo is displayed, or to be able to manually advance the photos. I tried to
change the settings in "Tools, Options, Picture Duration" (from the default 5
seconds to 15 seconds but that didn't seem to have any effect.). Each slide
only stayed on the screen about 3 seconds.
Quesiton #1: Is there a way of changing how long each slide stays in view?
Question #2: What do the settings Picture Duration and Transition Duration
Do?

I guess these are basic questions but I just started learning to use this.

PS: Anyone know of a free sideshow maker that can just be sent as an
executable file. I used to have one called EZViewer.exe but I can't find it
anymore. Thanks, Mike

Mike,

The options for duration and transition defaults are applied to the still
pix as they move from the collections to the project storyboard or timeline.
Changes don't effect anything already in a project.

For those already there, you have to grab the trim handle and manually drag
it to the duration you want.

-After installing PS9 (CS2) (unless PS is already open) when I select an
image it used to give me the choice to edit or open with PS. Now, it doesn't
even show it when I browse for the program which is installed fine. IF, the
program is open the choice is there, if not, is does not even come up in a
browse. ANY HELP greatly appreciated!

For creating a slide show (wmv/avi) it is always better to use Microsoft
Power Story instead of MM2. You can more easily customise the show for each
photo (but there is a limitation, that you can only use 300 photos maximum).
Other uttilities are Windows HTML creator power toy. You can view the photos
as a slide show through your browser (but not on a TV!). Irfanview is also a
good freeware to create a .exe file as slide show and .scr file for screen
saver. You can also try Nero (OEM and retail both) to create a VCD or a DVD
(retail version). Ulead also offers features to into your requirement, but it
is paid.
