How do I change the drive letter for removable media drives

When I bought my computer, I was able to change the drive letter by clicking
on the drive in the device manager. There was a tab that contained the drive
letter choices.

A new drive (supposedly identical to the original and installed by the mfg)
does not have anything in the device manager properties to make this change.

How do I change the drive letter?

How do I change the drive letter?

Use Start - Run - DISKMGMT.MSC

Select the drive in question and then use Action - Change Drive Letter
and Path

Good luck

Hi,

I think you have to partition and format the drive before it will be
available for letter assignments.

Never heard of partitioning removable media????

I asked about renaming a REMOVABLE media drive.

Perfect!

That did it.

Thanks loads.

I assume that if I want to change the drive letter again later, I use the
same method.
