Change register user

Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > General tab

There's a "Registered to:" information.
During the installation of WinXP, I'd wrongly key in the registered
user information.

Can I know how and where can I change the "Registered to" information?

Thanks.

Go to Start -> Run and type regedit in the Open box. Click OK.
Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

Click on CurrentVersion.
In the right hand pane look for RegisteredOwner.
Right click on this value and select Modify.
Enter the correct information.
Click OK.
Follow the same procedure to change RegisteredOrganization.
Close the registry editor.

And before someone who may happen upon this thread comments on the date of
my postings, yes, I was checking something using the Date/Time Settings
calendar late last night (early this morning <g>) and inadvertently changed
the date. I have since corrected it.

To fix the "Registered to" information for WinNT/2K/XP, you can use
Start > Run > Regedit.exe to edit:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner

and:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\RegisteredOrganization

How this will affect the name displayed in previously installed
applications will vary depending upon each individual program; some
read the registered owner information dynamically, while others read
it only during installation.
