change order in BIOS for booting

My xp computer will not boot from cd. I go into setup
and see that the cd is listed after the floppy. How do I
change the order? I am not even sure I can boot from a
floppy. I made one with Norton ghost and it would not
boot saying the floppy was not made by ghost. It had a
gho file, but it was made months before I had even
installed ghost.

You shouldn't need to change the order. If it's floppy, CD drive,
hard drive, it should boot from the CD drive unless there's a
floppy inserted.

Are you sure there's no floppy in the drive? Are you sure the CD
you've inserted is bootable? What CD is it?

If the answers to those questions is yes and it still won't boot,
there's a hardware problem. This has nothing to do with Windows,
since Windows hasn't even begun to be loaded at the time it
should boot from the CD.

There are, conservatively, hundreds of different BIOSs and variations in
use. Without knowing what you have it is not possible for someone to guess
how to change your BIOS's boot sequence, assuming that it CAN be changed.
What is your system type? BIOS maker, version, and date?

Since I don't know what make of BIOS you have, I can only offer a
suggestion based on what most look like:

When you see the boot order selections, move the cursor or highlight
bar to the CD, and press enter. Escape out of your BIOS, and select
save changes if asked. Reboot the machine and watch the screen
closely to see a message such as:

To boot from CD, press any key or press enter.......

As for a bootable floppy disk, you can go to www.bootdisk.com and
download a bootable floppy image to copy to a 1.44mb disk.

I'll add one comment: most BIOS CD boot routines won't boot from the
CD if you just sit there and expect it to happen. Usually they flash
a line that says something like "press any key to boot from CD-ROM."
If you just sit there and don't press a key, the BIOS goes on to the
next device listed and tries to boot.
