Hi. I am new to Outlook 2003 and I want to get rid of
the "Mail" pane in the upper left corner because I think
it's redundant. Anybody know if it can be taken off and if
so where?

At the bottom of the Navigation pane click the double arrows, click Add more
buttons, and add the views you would like. Once they are added, just click a
button and it will change your view.

If you're talking about the "Favorite Folders" at the top of the Mail Folder
display, no, you cannot get rid of them.

If you really cannot stand to see it there (I originally disliked it, as
well, but, after a while, I've grown accustomed to using it), use the Folder
List display instead of the Mail Folders display.
