Change drive letter from recocovery console

I installed Windows XP home onto the G: drive on accident
quite a while ago. This is because there were 3 other
partitions on the drive (one of which had another
instance of Windows XP on it). This did not cause any
problems for a while until I used Partition Magic to
remove the other 3 partitions. Well g became c and
windows became unbootable. I feel reasonable confident
that a simple letter change to the drive will fix the
problem but I am unsure of how to do this.

Try using Partition Magic itself, I think it might have a
tool for DOS that can change drive letters aswell.
Otherwise you might try Fdisk from dos... maybe that tool
will do it..

If only you could boot, then you could change it via Run >
mmc > add remove snap ins > disk manager > right click
your disk > change drive letter.


Hope it works for you, I'm sorry I don't know exactly how
to change it from DOS.

I can't change drive letters directly from Partition
Magic in DOS unfortunately. I'll try fdisk and see what
that does

You can't use fdisk from the recovery console.
