Change display properties from F8 menu?

Hi,

I setup windows XP on a harddrive from my primary system. I then
proceeded to mail the drive back to my Mom so that she can use it in
her system. XP does not boot up correctly, though. She only sees a
grey screen, not the XP loading image. I'm pointing a finger at the
display properties that were configured and now her monitor might not
support them. Is there a way to change those properties via Safe Mode
or some other way like that? Basically, I would like to get it back
down to say 640x480 if possible. She is able to hit F8 to get to the
safemode menu.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Jim

Setting up the system matches the software to the hardware concerned.
Unless the two machines have exactly similar hardware you can't do the
matter in that way. Even if you change motherboard, it is necessary to
start out with a 'repair' reinstal;l of the system
