Every time I run SFC the program insists on my using the
original CD to restore changed or corrupted OS files in
the DLLCACHE folder. How do I change the default source
from the XP CD to my hard drive where the updated files
are located? I've searched the KB and my registry, but
can't find any reference to it.

Hi Tony,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Setup

Thx Kelly,

I tried editing the registry as you suggested, but I still
get the same message:

Hi Kelly,

I tried your registry suggestion, but I still get this
message: "Insert Your Windows XP Pro Cd Now". Apparently,
SFC is programmed to search the CD and doesn't look in the
registry for the source path! Any ideas?

Thx,
Tony

Hi Tony,

Try again having the i386 folder open in Windows Explorer.

In the registry - at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup
Value of SourcePath

This will be normally x:\ - change it to the path of the folder
containing the copied i386 folder (so if you put that on its own as
C:\i386 make the new value C:\ )
