change CD settings

I have an application that requires a database information on a CD. I would
like to run the application on a UMPC (Asus r2h). It doesn't have a CD
player. I could copy the data on a SD card but the application keeps looking
for the data on the CD rom. How do I change the settings so that the SD can
be accessed.

Make an iso image of the cd and use a cd emulator like DaemonTools to mount
the image. Google it.

Besides the Lord knows, you can copy content of the CD in a file that you
store in a SD card. You can accomplish this task by using a software such as
Nero or similar you have in your PC (copy CD in the file image). Then you
use Daemon tools (or similar SW product) to mount this image and it will
appear as nominal CD Rom.

This procedure could fail if the CD has some protection.

For disk image information see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disk_image
For CD protection see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CD/DVD_copy_protection

Check the license of your software product if it allows proposed procedure.

I am trying to use Nero and it saves the image file as nrg. Do I use this to
"burn"(?) the copy into the SD Card?

or - Can I just copy (drag and drop) the files into a folder in the SD Card?

Try some Virtual CD software.

Copy the file in the SD card, do not "burn" (whatever it means) there.
This copied file can be mounted by other software (e.g. Daemon tools).

Just an update. I created a disk image, copied the image to the SD Card.
Installed DaemonTools Lite. Mounted the copied file and voila!
