CF - Making non-removable

S

Stuart Langley

Hi All,

I'm looking into using CF as the sole storage medium for our target
device. From the reading I've done (I'm new to XPe), to have more than
one visible partition on the CF card it needs to be marked as
non-removable and act like a fixed disk.

What is the experince of people who have done this? From the postings
it looks like SanDisk is one company that will distribute a utility to
change the CF to non-removable. Has anybody had any luck doing the
same thing with any other CF manufacturers?

Also, can somebody comment of the read speed from the CF cards under
XPe. Does XPe take advantage of PIO3/PIO4 cards to give significantly
improved read times? Also does it take advantage of features like read
ahead/caching etc?

Thanks In Advance,

Stuart
