Hi,
have a CF card connected to ide port via passive adapter.
XP reports "removable drive" and refuses to partioning the drive.
How to make it a "fixed drive/hard disk" again?
Best regards

Are you plug CF card on running machine?

No, because CF is connected to IDE, I always plug/unplug
with machine switched off completely.

Juergen,

Did you mark the CF as fixed? If not, you should ask the CF manufacturer for an utility that will help you to mark it as
non-removable device.

That is exact the problem:

Juergen,

As I already said, you may want to contact your CF manufacturer. They should have an utility to mark the card as fixed (not sure if
they are going to be willing to share the utility with you, though).

Another approach is to try to fix this on the driver level. You just have to ignore removable bit hat is set on the card.
Take a look at the Hitachi sample driver on www.xpefiles.com to get the picture. And/or search this NG archive for more details on
it.
