Hi,

have a CF card connected to an ide port via passive adapter.
XP reports "removable drive" and refuses of partitioning the drive.

How to make it a "fixed drive/hard disk" again?

Best regards

A passive [USB] adapter is going to read the CF card for just
what it is...a removable drive. To make the CF card work as a
fixed drive, one probably needs a powered Firewire/USB dock or
enclosure that has the electronics and is capable of adapting
the solid-state CF memory card to emulate a hard drive.

...but I told that the card is directly connected to IDE port,
not to USB or whatever...
