Certificates

When I try to send email I receive an error that states;
Microsoft outlook could not sign or encrypt this message because you have
no certificates which can be used to send from the email address'my address
is here'.
- The two suggested fixes are getting a new digital ID or send the
message using an account that I have certificates for.

If I select the account from the account drop down on the standerd toolbar I
receive the same error.

If I manually type my address into the from field the message is sent
without error, but when the message is received the following is displayed in
the from field...
My Name [my email address]; on behalf of; my email address

Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

Go to Tools, Options, Security tab, and uncheck everything under Encrypted
Email. You should not have anything checked there unless you have a digital
signature and understand what that means.

Mary,

I do have a class 1 digital signature from VeriSign. The certificate
has the correct email address and used to work. It still works except that I
now have to maually type my email address in the from field when I send an
email; even though I am typing the same address as the one that is set up as
the default send account.

If I leave the from field blank and try to send the message I get an
error that says I have no certificates for my email address, if I then type
that same address into the from field and hit send again the message is sent.
When it is received it then says 'on behalf of' in the from field, which is
also something that didn't used to happen.

That's different. You can't just leave off the From Field? The From field is
filled in automatically with the acct info. If you fill it in manually, it
will say that you are sending on behalf of the name filled in. How about
setting up the email acct again? Maybe there's a glitch in the acct setup.
Check with Verisign for an update.
